Melbourne weekend away

Last weekend I was lucky enough to spend a few days with my boyfriend on holiday in Melbourne. We had a great time catching up with friends, sight seeing, eating lots and I particularly enjoyed looking at all the cute and quirky stores.
Chapel Street, home to Chapel St Bazaar of course, where I took this sneaky pic of my fave area which was cram packed full of vintage china. I fell in love with an amazing purple and floral tea cup but at $85, I sadly had to leave it in the cabinet. Also another store up my alley was Ishka, a hippy type of store. I must have an aqua mirror just like this one, and yes that is me in the reflection!
The sun really came out on our trip to St Kilda, which also happened to be my birthday. It was just blissfull checking out the markets then sitting in sunshine, near the beach eating ice creams. By the way they definitely  tasted as good as they looked.
Brunswick Street, probably my favourite area of melbourne. Filled with cool and unusual stores and the one and only 'Meet me at Mikes' which had a great window display of pom poms, I couldn't quite pick it up in the photo due to reflection though. Also, how much do I love this pink sink? It was in 'Mozi' and I'm sure the shop assistant thought I was mad taking a photo of it ha ha!
Lovely macarons in the Royal Arcade in central Melbourne.
When I ordered a lemon, lime and bitters in a little bar on the Yarra, I was very impressed when it arrived in a jar. Seriously, I couldn't contain my excitement!
Here is a funky cake stand I bought in Mozi, displayed on some pretty japanese paper from a store in Chapel St.
Beautiful handmade soaps, yes the cupcake is a soap too, from St Kilda markets. My sweet friend gave them to me for my birthday.
 Some beads from Ishka.
The cutest disney friends from Chapel St Bazaar, another birthday gift.
And lastly macarons, LOVE LOVE LOVE them, it was near impossible to pick just two but I decided on coconut and raspberry. I carried them all the way home to sydney (by foot, bus, plane, train & car) just so i could take a good pic of them! Then I gobbled them up, both of them in 2 seconds flat...they were AMAZING!

Shopping bliss

New season stock is in the stores which makes me wanna go on a big shopping spree and update my wardrobe! So many pretty clothes in soft colours and floaty florals, all right up my alley. Here are a few purchases I've managed to squeeze out of my tight budget recently.
Cute rings...I am really into these plastic flowers at the moment.
I may not actually ever use this for perfume, but it looks good!
Practical and oh so comfortable.
Love, love, love floral fabric and even better when its made into shoes.
Absolutely gorgeous spring/summer dresses, perfect to wear to a sunny picnic!
What shopping delights have you bought recently?

Found...little gems

During the week just passed, I spent an evening in north Sydney's Neutral Bay with my dear friend. We went on a lovely late afternoon walk where she took me to see this cute cupcake shop called my little cupcake. The scent of vanilla filled the air before we even arrived, but unfortunately the store had just closed so we weren't able to sample any of the sugary goodness. A few photos had to do instead...less calories that way!
Not only are the window displays divine, but the actual facade is covered in pretty mosaic tiles.
I'd almost kill for an oven like this...it would be perfect for my one day dream pastel 50's style kitchen.
Giant tea cup plant pots. I have seen pots similiar to these in bargain stores, think I need to get one.
Also while I was in the neighbourhood I stopped into North Sydney Vinnies where I found this beautiful tea cup set. It's a tad worn and there is a small crack in the saucer but I love that it was once loved and used.

Spring inspirations

It is September now and that means spring is here! Even though I say I love each season as they arrive, Spring would have to be my favourite for quite a few reasons. The days are growing longer, the sun is shining more brightly, flowers are blooming, baby animals are being born and the air is filled with warmth and the sweet scent of Jasmine blossom.
I've been in a bit of a 'funk' lately and no better way to get myself into a happier mood than by being busy!
I have thrown myself into crocheting triangles for more pretty bunting and here is just part of my ever increasing pile.
How sweet is this little wee birdy? It was an easter decoration from Bed Bath & Table...in lovely spring colours.
Yummy Blueberry and Coconut muffins. It was just a packet mix on special but I did add the coconut on a whim, well why not? And how can anyone resist them with a drizzle of pink icing.
I found these in a bargain store, $1.50 for the set! Definitely couldn't say no as they are in my favourite colours.

One of the few decent plants in my garden would have to be this Jasmine. I adore the scent and it brings back many happy memories for me. Isn't it funny how just a simple smell can take us back to an exact moment or memory?
Have a lovely weekend. xxx
